Dynamics of wetting

Computers and simulation algorithms have recently become fast enough to simulate flow of liquids on the nano- and micro-scale using millions of atoms. Continuum simulation techniques are preferred, but they often fail at interfaces and contact lines, which become more important as the length scales become smaller. With molecular simulation fundamental insights can be obtained of, for instance, wetting of surfaces by water droplets. Furthermore, molecular simulation can help technological developments in the field of nano-flow, especially for complex liquids where molecular interactions are important, such as solutions of biomolecules.
